Actions, reactions and every moment in between…Our wedding coverage philosophy.

To tell the true and complete story of any given moment, two components must be captured: the initial action and the reaction it elicits. This belief is the creative cornerstone of our team’s approach to filming and photographing weddings and events.

The moment you step into your wedding dress makes for a gorgeous, pin-able image. But I would argue that the heart of this particular scene lies not just in your eyes as you gaze at yourself in the mirror, but in the way your mom’s eyes begin to mist while she watches you prepare to walk down the aisle. My background in television production has given me the skill set needed to preserve both of these perspectives so that they remain yours to cherish for a lifetime.

As a studio, we focus on capturing beautiful portraits and video, but are very careful to let your wedding day unfold naturally rather than manipulating moments to get a certain shot. And because your wedding day is just that—yours—we invite you to customize our coverage based on your priorities and specific wedding day plans.

There are two questions we ask every couple:

1. What kind of experience do you want on your wedding day?

2. How do you want to look back on your wedding?

Share your vision with us, and together we’ll create the perfect production plan for you.

Let’s celebrate you!

I met Megan at a wedding show, fell in love with the amazingly unique photo booth... big enough for 10 people, great quality, and lots of neat tricks (video dare, etc.)... fell in love with Megan and the entire photo and video team. They listened to all of our preferences, made sure we all looked great, and captured all of the moments that were special to us. Megan and team are passionate about what they do, the experience from start to finish was phenomenal. I actually keep in touch with Megan after our event because she’s so special you’ll want her to be in your life forever, like we do!!! She and her team really captured our day, i would never hesitate to recommend Water Tree Studios to anyone for any event! Thank you Megan and team!!! Xoxoxox

Laura & Alex - Wedding Wire Review

Hello, I’m Megan!

Founder of Water Tree Studios

Megan Waters Water Tree Studios Orange County Wedding photographer LA county wedding photographer.jpg

My first job was at a bridal store in Toronto, Canada. On sunny days I was stuck outside selling discounted dresses from the 1980s with shoulder pads and beads, but on rainy days, I got to work inside with the brides. I loved being around the tulle, lace, and tiaras, and seeing the look on everyone’s face when a bride found “the one.” While I worked toward finishing my degree in Radio and Television Arts, I got a video camera. My friends and family knew that I was visually inclined, so when my cousin got engaged, guess who was asked to film the wedding?

It was a stressful first experience, to say the least...but it was also super cool. Like working in the bridal shop times a hundred. Instead of just witnessing everyone’s reactions and looking at the details that had been so carefully selected, I was responsible for capturing and preserving them

for years to come. This was not just footage; it was a new family in the making. What a privilege

Commercial work around Toronto followed until I answered the call of California. After four years of producing reality television and shooting corporate projects in the Golden State, I was ready to marry my love of weddings and storytelling. For this Canadian to stay in the United States legally, I had two choices: get married (à la Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds in The Proposal) or start a business. Ever the romantic, I chose the latter and gave my heart time to find the right partner for me.

Water Tree Studios was founded in 2007 based on the desire to capture the sweetest, most shareable moments in life. And no moment has more intrinsic value than a wedding day. These are the stories that will be enjoyed for years—the album and video handed down and shared with any children that come along and their children after that. A beautifully-documented wedding might not reach the whole world, like a Nike campaign, but it tells the story of a personal legacy. It would be my honor to help you begin telling yours.

Our desire is to give you a celebrated experience from the moment you say I do to us.
