Axel V. Sabersky was laid to rest on March 20th, 2023. Family and friends gather to honor his memory. Service was captured at the request of the family and made available for viewing.

Sandy Sabersky: Beautiful, thank you so much everyone.

Carol Sabersky: I hardly knew my cousin, Axel. We exchanged holiday cards and a few emails, but his mental illness made it difficult to engage more fully.

But what was so helpful to me, was a comment made by his Home Hospice Social Worker, Kathlyn, whom he trusted. She wrote to Sandy and me, that Axel was “a great guy with a terrible illness.” Knowing that she had connected with him meaningfully and could see the person beyond his illness was very reassuring.

And how lucky was Axel to have Gary Osen in his life! For decades Gary has been patient, supportive and loyal towards Axel. Then as Axel was dying, Gary flew out to be with him so he wouldn’t die alone.

I am so grateful to you, Gary, for being such a kind and generous person – for being there for Axel – taking care of his emotional, health, financial, and burial needs. I imagine that your presence and actions must have been such a calming, loving support for Axel.

I offer great thanks and appreciation for all you’ve done for him.

May Axel rest in peace.
