CHAT MESSAGES FROM ZOOM

Rabbi Jamie Gibson: Morley and I were students together at HUC-JIR in Cincinnati. He was always warm and caring, but showed an incisive mind and a terrific commitment to our work. It was my pleasure and honor to reunite with him for 3 years in the Rabbinic Leadership Initiative cohort of the Shalom Hartman Institute from 2007-2010. His mind, heart and spirit never stopped growing and he was a wonderful dugmah (role model) for what an American Jewish Rabbinic leader should be. I cared for him and about him and I will miss him terribly.

Jessica Spitalnic Mates: Amen Jamie.

Rabbi Jamie Gibson: Thank you, Jessica.

Alan Henkin (he/him/his): I last spoke with Morley in the fall. I had a number of questions for him about something, and he was as always incredibly helpful and insightful. If he was in pain, he gave no indication. I had no idea that would be my last conversation with Morley. Zecher tsadik livrachah. I am heartbroken.

Mark Diamond: Morley was a beloved friend, colleague, teacher, and mentor. We enjoyed working together in Los Angeles for two decades. He was my hevruta (study buddy) on the Hartman program, and I miss our learning and laughing together. So many fond memories! Lois and I miss him terribly and send our love and sympathy to all who knew and loved this wonderful human being.

Doris Bergen: I knew Morley in South Bend. He was amazing, so wise and joyful. One of the first times I saw him he was dressed as Darth Vader for Purim. He brought energy, insight, and love to everything he did

Lesley Walker: We also knew Morley in South Bend. I was a colleague of his wife. I celebrated my 40th birthday at their house. So much energy and joy!

Betty Signer: I knew Morley and his family since he was a rabbinic student in LA. Best shidduch I ever made was with Morley and Margarite. Such joy watching his family grow. I will miss Morley so much since we fregently exchanged emails…and am so glad to know Margarite’s is at LMU to further Jewish learning. The only bright light is that now Michael ( his rabbinic teacher) will have Morley to discuss endless topics, Torah and gute rkhilus. May he now rest In peace. May his family soon find joy in their memories to replace their sadness.

Rabbi Howard Jacoby Ruben, JCHS (he/his): So powerfully sad. He will be missed by so many.

Rabbi Jamie Gibson: He certainly will. Thanks, Howard.

Doris Ruvelson: From the Ruvelson:

Laura Geller: What an amazing legacy. He will be missed by so many, including me.

Jordan Millstein: A beautiful service for a beautiful human being. Gone too soon.

Ken Chasen (he/him): Sending love to Margarete and the entire family -- how deeply our dear friend will be missed

Doris Ruvelson: We were so saddened to learn of Morley’s passing. Our hearts are broken. He left an enduring blessing for our immunity.

Doris Ruvelson: Our love goes out to Margarete and her entire Feinstein family.

Doris Ruvelson: With love from Doris and Bob Ruvelson

Leah Lewis: What powerful words for this powerful moment. Zecher tzadik livracha - a true tzadik.

Ilana Grinblat: Sending love to the whole family. Yasher Koach to the rabbis who spoke so beautifully.

Don Rossoff: His memory IS a blessing! Beautiful tribute for a beautiful mensh!!

nancy in berkeley: Aaron is awesome!!

Monica Tetzlaff: Sending love to Margarete and family. Grateful for Morley’s beautiful life and condolences on his passing.

Ilana Grinblat: Where is the raise your hand button? I would be honored to share a few words.

Rebecca Gross (she or they): Ilana, go to the bottom of your screen and click on “reactions.” There you’ll find the “raise hand” button

Doris Bergen: try "reactions"

rich.dubielzig: I was a frequent guest at Morley's house for the High Holy Days and Passover. I remember the wit and warmth he always brought to the house at that time, and the way he would always make time for his family even during the busiest times of the year for a head Rabbi.

Beth Bruch: Sending love to Ari and to all.

rich.dubielzig: I can also attest to the Dual Twin Carry trick that he did when the girls were babies. It is one of my sweetest memories of him.

Jay Sanderson: May my dear friend’s memory be a blessing

Dave Cohn and Sarah Ruben: We have been so blessed by Morley's presence in our lives and in the life of our family over many years. We join with all of you and his family in celebrating his generosity and warmth, and will miss him dearly.

jessica kirschner, she/her: Morley was a wonderful and enthusiastic mentor, and such a shining example of how to integrate a life of torah, the work of a rabbi, love for other people (especially the Jewish people), and a deep commitment to caring for and being present to his own family too. He was a profound teacher of the Torah of Moses and the torah of his own life. So many of us grew because of what he taught. His memory will continue to be a blessing.

Rabbi Julie Bressler (she/her/hers): Morley was such a meaningful mentor and rabbinic guide for myself and so many who entered this field. He was fun to see in his relaxed clothes at Camp Newman where he told me many great stories. I will deeply miss him. May his memory be forever a blessing.

Joanna Leser: Condolences and much love from Ashley and me, and from all the family in England, my children Matt and Louise, and my brothers Victor and Walter. Morley was a remarkable man. We are Margarete's cousins and feel blessed to have known Morley.

Jaime Offenberger: The Offenbergers send our love and condolences to the Feinstein family. Rabbi came into our lives in 2003 when we joined University for Mommy-and-me. He impacted our lives in many ways and I will cherish those memories forever.

Rachel Dubowe (she/her): Morley found so much joy in camping and youth and shared that immense joy with me often. He loved hearing about his girls at camp and at retreats (he’d slyly check in with me!) He was so remarkably kind and caring to me and my entire family. He will be missed and may his memory be a blessing.

naomi levy: Morley will deeply missed, he was a rare soul, may his memory be for a blessing.

Melissa York - JFed: Sending my deepest condolences to the family and the entire community - his memory is truly a blessing.

Rabbi Karen Companez || she/her/hers: As the current rabbi of Temple Beth-El in South Bend, I have benefitted from the legacy that Morley left in South Bend. May his memory be for a blessing.

Rebecca Gross (she or they): Sending love from the Gross / Tenzer family. I work with Margarete at LMU in the Jewish Studies Department. I had no idea, until Morley’s passing, that he presided over my father’s funeral when I was just a child. Morley was also a long-time friend of my aunt, Debbie Tenzer, from college. Although I never had a chance to know Rabbi Feinstein personally, I am infinitely grateful for the role he has played in my and my family’s life. May his memory be a blessing, an inspiration, and a revolution eternally.

Carmia, Talia, Leila Ordonez: Morley always shared smiles with my daughter, Talia, at Camp Newman, and he and Margarete always took care of her as one of Renata and Eliana's close friends. Our hearts go out to Morley's entire family. May his memory be a blessing.

Sonia Haeckel: Sending hugs to all of Morley's close family, but especially Ari: It must be so difficult to watch this from afar. I hope you will find companionship and be able to reunite with your brother and sisters soon.

Beth Bruch: Sending love to all, as my cousin Sonia says, especially to Ari watching from afar. You are in my heart. I appreciate the way Morley brought his humanity to the role of Rabbi and brought the role of Rabbi to his humanity. By bringing the wholeness of who he was, he lifted up the wholeness of humanity as created in the image of G-d. He made my cousin Margi so happy, and I am grateful..

ronna shpall: I’ve known Morley since he came to LA with his family, because I’ve been lifelong friends with his sister Sheila Feinstein Merewitz. He wa always pleasant and greeted me like an old friend. My sincere condolences to all his family and Sheila. May his memory be a blessing.

Beth Bruch: Aaron, you spoke beautifully. Love to you and to Margi, Renata, and Eliana! May Morley's memory be for blessing.

Joanne Lichtenstein: Thank you so much for allowing us to be part of this lovely tribute.
