Joe: Bill was an important influencer and peer-mentor to me. When Yamaha Musical Instruments became my client, I didn't know much about which magazines to buy. He rep'd two magazines and volunteered to help me build a schedule to buy for the client. He could have loaded me up with his pubs. However, I found in retrospect that he was extremely fair and recommended what was best for me client. So he quickly gained my respect. As my agency grew he and Judi became very good friends of mine and Sylvie's. I would describe Bill as lovable, smart, fair, great sense of humor, innovative, loving family man -- and a consummate entrepreneur. Such a wonderful man. I will miss our calls. Joe Phelps

Joe Phelps: Bill loved technology. Prior to the Web, when it was just the internet, we were at the Slapin's house. We played with CompuServe for awhile. There was pot involved. And we invented something we called the "BarkLight". (When someone walked onto your porch, the light came on and there was the sound of a big dog barking.) I reminded Bill of that on our last phone call.
